MacKenzie's Inner Fire

 Hopefully A Funny

THE POLITICALLY CORRECT DAYS of CHRISTMAS:

On the 12th day of the Eurocentrically imposed midwinter festival, my Significant Other in a consenting adult, monogamous relationship gave to me:

TWELVE males reclaiming their inner warrior through ritual drumming,

ELEVEN pipers piping (plus the 18-member pit orchestra made up of members in good standing of the Musicians Equity Union as called for in their union contract even though they will not be asked to play a note),

TEN melanin deprived testosterone-poisoned scions of the patriarchal ruling class system leaping,

NINE persons engaged in rhythmic self-expression,

EIGHT economically disadvantaged female persons stealing milk-products from enslaved Bovine-Americans,

SEVEN endangered swans swimming on federally protected wetlands,

SIX enslaved Fowl-Americans producing stolen non-human animal products,

FIVE golden symbols of culturally sanctioned enforced domestic incarceration,

(NOTE: after members of the Animal Liberation Front threatened to throw red paint at my computer, the calling birds, French hens and partridge have been reintroduced to their native habitat. To avoid further Animal-American enslavement, the remaining gift package has been revised.)

FOUR hours of recorded whale songs

THREE deconstructionist poets

TWO Sierra Club calendars printed on recycled processed tree carcasses and...

ONE Spotted Owl activist chained to an old-growth pear tree.

Merry Christmas Happy Chanukah. Good Kwanzaa. Blessed Yule. Happy Holidays! (unless otherwise prohibited by law)*

*Unless, of course, you are suffering from Seasonally Affected Disorder (SAD). If this be the case, please substitute this gratuitous call for celebration with suggestion that you have a thoroughly adequate day.

May your sense of humor be firmly in place and never waver during this Holiday Season!

Cheers! ~MacKenzie

 I don't know

What is it about the snow that mesmerizes me. I stare into the sparkles and find myself wanting to drown myself in its white perfection.

It's a weird day today. I want to talk; I don't want to talk. I want to sort of ignore it, but... I've tried joking myself out of it. I've tried falling into that sort of numbness. I persist in distracting myself. I search and search for special memories, conversations, a certain laughter, wisdom in words. Today is what it is, nothing more, nothing less.

Tomorrow will be better, I insist!

 Well........ THAT was fun!!!

Monday morning.... 5:30. No snow. Tuesday evening... 9:30, approx. 2 feet of heavy wet snow. All righty then!!! The wind is still fairly strong, creatiang all sorts of crazy drifting. It was nice that we didn't loose electricity, however, this is the first time since Sunday evening that we have had any sort of internet connection. It's rather touchy at best.

And, how charming that the storm brought with it sore throats and stuffy heads. Double ....

So tomorrow as we dig ourselves out, or I guess, I should say I get to take over tomorrow. Honey has to work. I have errands to run and unfortunately I only have the house key for the door to the sun room that hasn't been shoveled out yet. He'd get up early to shovel it all out, but he isn't feeling well either. At least tomorrow I can take my time doing it. So.... I won't say a thing to him.

When things calm down tomorrow, I shall plop my hiney down here at the compter with a big hot mug filled with Constant Comment~~yummy~~ (or maybe earl grey or even peppermint tea) and hopefully start catching up with everyone!!!

 It's all in the.... Fingers????

You Are a Pinky
You are fiercely independent, and possibly downright weird.
A great communicator, you can get along with almost anyone.
You are kind and sympathetic. You support all your friends - and love them for who they are.

You get along well with: The Ring Finger

Stay away from: The Thumb

See now, it drive me CRAZY when quizes end like that. I mean, what if I come across a thumb that I actually LIKE??? Are they saying I can't be friends with a thumb??? Because I tell you now that little stubborn independence streak they just mentioned will find ways to defy the rules of this quiz if I truly do want a friend thumb... How about two thumbs up???

Totally useless skill #82: Can you touch your thumb and your pinkie together? I must admit, I can do it much easier with my left hand than my right. With my left hand I can make the nails of each finger come together. It doesn't even hurt. With my right, my thumb barely hits the middle knuckle of my pinkie. I can only touch it there a few seconds before releasing as the task hurts!!!! go figure...

I can, however talk with my hands. And no, it's not the language of the the middle finger , that gesture drive me nuts because, well... I just don't know(shrugs...).

How many of you know sign language???

If you don't know sign language.. give this a try: Hold up your right hand with your fingers splayed out. Now, curl down only your index finger and ring finger. You've just created the sign for "I Love You." Your pinkie stands for the I, your pointer finger and thumb forms the L for love and your pinkie and thumb form the Y for you! Congrats!!! If you didn't know sign language before, you've just learned your first sign!!!

Did you know that you can teach babies sign language??? yup.... my girls are proof. I read about the theory when I was pregnant and decided to test it out. It worked especially well with Pumpkin as she was most receptive to it. Maybe if I had had more time with the other two.. but anyway... By the time Pumpkin was 1, she could use the sign for hurt, more, eat, milk, mommie and daddy. Later we added beautiful, good morning, good night, hot, cold, toilet, bath, play, water, grandmother and grandfather. I agree with what I read. There was really good communication early on. It really did seem to cut down on how upset she got when she wanted something and just didn't have the vocabulary skills yet to tell us. And it was always pretty good for a laugh, too. The family thought it absolutely hysterical to see her sitting in her high chair with us at a meal furiously signing "More!!!" Once she began talking though, that was it. She began using her words and she hasn't stopped talking since!!!!

Okay, I'll fianlly leave ya's alone for today. The quiz just sent me off on a tangent, I guess...

Ah... the sweet smell of the weekend less than a day away!!!
