MacKenzie's Inner Fire

 KIDS!!!!!

You know, when your little kids go running around naked with the exception of their shoes, people think it's cute.

When your grandfather does it, it's a whole different situation....

Staying at the beach cottage was a nice rest. It's coming back home and getting back to the real world that is a bit of a bummer at the moment.

Saying a final "Hoorah" for Mepa was easier than I anticipated. It was a beautiful little family moment... spreading the rest of his ashes onto the ocean right at sunset. With the exception of the siblings (understandable), everyone seemed much more at peace and the evening was filled with fun, laughter and more, more More Mema and Mepa stories.

Too much to do, too much to focus on, just toooo much!!!! So I'd better get going before my head explodes...

Cheers! ~MacKenzie

 Gearing up for the weekend

Okay... the house is clean, and our suitcases are half packed as we are getting ready to head out to the beach house tomorrow. It feels as if I have done laundry all day long and STILL... I have a little left to do.

Since I will not be around tomorrow, I wanted to post a song for Saturday Night. My choice for this weekend was quick to find.

Tried to amend my carnivorous habit
Made it nearly seventy days
Losing weight without speed eating sunflower seeds
Drinking lots of carrot juice and soaking up rays
But at night I'd have these wonderful dreams
Some kind of sensuous treat
Not zucchini fettucini or bulgar wheat
But a big warm bun and a huge hunk of meat

Chorus:

Cheeseburger in paradise
Heaven on earth with an onion slice
Not too particular not too precise
I'm just a cheeseburger in paradise

Heard about the oldtime sailor men
They'd eat the same thing again and again
Warm beer and bread they said could raise the dead
Well it reminds me of the menu at a Holiday Inn
But times have changed for sailors these days
When I'm in port I get what I need
Not just havanas or banana or daiquiris
But that American creation on which I feed

Cheeseburger in paradise
Medium-rare with mustard'd be nice
Heaven on earth with an onion slice
I'm just a cheeseburger in paradise

I like mine with lettuce and tomato
Heinz 57 and french fried potatoes
Big kosher pickle and a cold draft beer
Well good God almighty which way do I steer
For my...

Cheeseburger in paradise
Making the best of every virtue and vice
Worth every damn bit of sacrifice
To get a cheeseburger in paradise
Get me a cheeseburger in paradise
I'm just a cheeseburger in paradise

I like mine with lettuce and tomato
Heinz 57 and french fried potatoes
Big kosher pickle and a cold draft beer
Well good God almighty which way do I steer...

So what do you like on Your cheeseburger???

Hope you all have a good weekend!

Cheers! ~MacKenzie

 Work, work, work.....

ugh... The last two days I have been working for my parents agency. I found out what the hold up was to me finally being able to give up my position. Apparently the State wants all people stepping into my position to be trained. (Perhaps if I had been trained I wouldn't have gotten so burnt out trying to figure out what the heck they expected of these reports... but anyway...) There was a training back in January in this area. The only other ones coming up are way down in Southern Maine or up in the very north of the State.

And of course, there's no money for travel expenses, mileage and what not. The next training for this area is to occur in September. I must say, you hear often of 9 month pregnancies, but I've never heard of a 9 month resignation. Until September, the person taking my place will be with me to see the process. Hopefully I can show her a few tricks that might make the job a little easier.....

Speaking of pregnancies, my future sister in law as well as my adorable niece as doing wonderful. Sister in law did learn that she now has pregnancy diabetes but she's been on the recommended eating plan as well as taking a safe medication and she's doing great. (YAY!!!) I've lost some count but she's around the 30th week or so. An interesting side note: Little Brother and future sister in law are throwing a huge party in the beginning of June. The second I heard I looked at Honey and said that we ere actually going to a surprise wedding. I could be wrong, but it will be interesting to see if my intuition is right. It fits. They did want to be married before the baby was born and so far most of their plans for a small family wedding keeps getting interrupted. I'm definitely keeping my fingers crossed. Another interesting point was I told them that I would be happy to help out. I was more than willing to bring something but everything there was fine. If we weren't going to use it, though, could they borrow my garden arch? It would look good in some landscaping they were thinking about doing. As if Sis in law could do any gardening in her condition..... hummmmm.... Time will tell what exactly is going on. It could be just as they say and they want to have the whole family there for a party.

By the way, when do kids get over their fascination with asses and bodily functions? Oh my goodness but I am trying to deal well with it. Today I observed my youngest wipe her bottom, then throw the toilet paper in. Then she proceeded to watch the paper sink into the water before trying to PLAY with it! And as I telling her to stop, suddenly she sticks her finger in her mouth. Me, flabergasted, stares blankly at her and suddenly she begins to cry. Honey, I end up asking trying really hard to not scrub the first layer of skin off her hands while washing them. Were you trying to play in your pee? No, she wanted to taste it. Oh boy..... I only hope she understood my explanation of why we DON'T play or drink pee.

Tomorrow we are going to Bangor to visit with Mema. Mom C is going with us and she wants to take us all out to lunch. Yummy!

Then Friday, actually, I am planning to go to the cemetery as I have not been since Mepa's funeral. The girls and I colored on a few rocks and we are going to leave them with their Mepa, their grandfather and with their brother. Yes, we/they did enough for all. I also have to pack as we are going to be going to Mom C and Papa's beach house over Memorial Day weekend.

The next few days are sure to be very, very busy....

Cheers! ~MacKenzie

 yep... annoyed again....

You know, sometimes, I feel like I am more the "housemaid" than anything else around this place. I came home from work yesterday after picking up everyone elses' crap (literally....) to walk in and see dishes that had to be done, towels on the bathroom floor, dirty clothes in bedrooms, beds not even made for the day, the table full of crumbs, scattered toys inside AND outside, and the floors a mess from the girls playing outside and then tracking mud and rocks all through the house.

So I had to be the bad guy yet again and call everyone in and get them to pick up after themselves.

Still, this morning as I look around there's dishes to finish, tables to clean, floors to sweep and vaccuum and Honey's dirty clothes and towel from the shower to take care of.

Hummm.... I do wonder WHERE the girls get their untidy habits from....

At least today as I'm cleaning up from the weekend, I can see it getting brighter and brighter outside. We've had lots of clouds and rain this past week and this morning the blue skies are trying super hard to clear out those clouds......

 A Song for Saturday

I have to admit to you all that I am not a huge Madonna fan. I either like it or hate it and only seldom do I love it. I DO very much agree that we should all be following our hearts.....

Sky Fits Heaven- by Madonna

Sky fits heaven so fly it
That's what the prophet said to me
Child fits mother so hold your baby tight
That's what my future could see

Fate fits karma so use it
That's what the wise man said to me
Love fits virtue so hold on to the light
That's what our future will be

[Chorus:]
Traveling down this road
Watching the signs as I go
I think I'll follow the sun
Isn't everyone just
Traveling down their own road
Watching the signs as they go
I think I'll follow my heart
It's a very good place to start

Traveling down my own road
Watching the signs as I go
Traveling down my own road
And I'm watching the signs as they go
Traveling, traveling
Watching the signs as I go

Hand fits giving so do it
That's what the Gospel said to me
Life fits living so let your judgments go
That's how our future should be

[chorus]

Traveling down my own road
Watching the signs as they go
Traveling down my own road
And I'm watching the signs as I go
Traveling, traveling
Watching the signs as I go

Have a great evening!

Cheers! ~MacKenzie
